Posted on March 5, 2019April 17, 2025 by codeandpixels

Animation has been around for a while now and many new types of techniques have been introduced, which means animation studios and companies all over the world are looking for talented individuals who have what it takes to master them. Even Multimedia tutors are now relying on this for effective teaching. There are different types of Animation techniques.

2D Animations:

2D animations is when scenes and characters are animated in a 2D space instead of a 3D environment. Today, artists use computer software to create everything in a 2D animations, including environments, characters, visual effects, and more. The reason 2D was put in a separate category is that in addition to the option of animating frame by frame, an animator has the option of creating rigs for the characters and then move the body parts individually instead of drawing the character over and over.

3D Animations:

3D animation is the manipulation of three dimensional objects and virtual environments with the use of a computer program. The animation techniques of 3D animations have a lot of similarities with stop-motion animation, as they both deal with animating and posing models and still conform to the frame-by-frame approach of 2D animation. Animation is done by posing the models on certain keyframes, after which the computer will calculate and perform an interpolation between those frames to create movement.

Flash based animation:

Adobe Flash is a program designed to create presentations and animated cartoons by the combination of three types of animation, known as “tweening” in Flash based animation. The three types of tweening used in Flash are frame-by-frame tweening, motion tweening, and shape tweening. One of the most important uses of flash animation is to create an animated character. The animated character created with the help of flash animation use for various purposes like entertainment, education, and presentation.

Multimedia tutors are extensively using these animation techniques for making learning process more efficient.

What is fullform of IETM and It is useful?

Interactive Electronic Technical Manual.

Let’s understand what the meaning of IETM is. IETM is a Manual or softcopy of any book. Even PDF scanned files can also be called IETM. Any books, documents that are in digital format are IETMs.

Because if the book is seen in computer or whatever the manuals we see in a digital device is called Electronic Manual. If this manual is technical then it is called ETM, Electronic Technical Manual.

If this manual is dynamic or has multiple references in the form of hyperlinks, hotspots, etc, it is called Interactivity.

Whichever Manual is digital has technical information and contains cross-references are called Interactive electronic Technical Manual.

IETMs are basically used in the defense system. A couple of years backs OEMs used to deliver many sets of hard copies to end-users (Navy/Army/IAF) if the number of pages is less, in this case, it is easy to refer for troubleshooting or operational procedures, etc.

For complex systems i.e. Missiles, Defence vehicles, communication, and non-communication systems where many systems and subsystems are involved, which makes the document count goes in thousands.

What is S1000D IETM?

The way JSG 0852 is the standard of Indian IETMs, S1000D is the standard for defense IETM.
Usage may be similar, but the Complete structure of IETM is entirely different from Indian standards.

S1000D uses XML files whereas JSG uses MySQL as a database. S1000D is a very costly solution. Users/Navy need to have S1000D CSDB studio to get all the documents converted as per S1000D.

If the navy /airforce does not have an S1000D suit or a CSDB studio then going for S1000D is absolutely no use. It is just like going for Level -3 IETM of Indian standard.S1000D is an Interactive Electronic Technical Publishing IETP

What is Computer Based training(CBT)?

Computer-Based Training (CBT) is a multimedia instructional delivery method used by India's military to teach different system components. It employs multimedia technologies such as graphics, animation, and video. The level and duration of CBT courses are set by the original equipment manufacturer.

When do we need IETM-3 AND IETM-4?

It depends on your client’s requirement. General practice is, IETM level 3/Class 3 is used when documents are less, i.e. below 5000. When documents are more, IETM -4 is required.

Having said that, we have also done 5000 Pages IETM Level 4/Class 4 or Level 5/Class 5 and 6000 pages Level 3/Class 3.

It completely depends on the Client. If your system is small, you can convince them to go for IETM level 3/Class 3Image of Bookshelf in Laptop Screen with IETM Text in the White Background!

What are the files used for S1000D?

S1000D is an Interactive Electronic Technical Publishing IETP. It’s also called IETM too.

S1000d is not new but very few Indian companies, which support documentation of foreign Airline documentation are similar to S1000d word. But almost 90 % of the people who do S1000D conversation do not know what s1000d is.

Few tools available in the market which are used to make XML files, but they are not an IETM creating tool, Just XML conversion tools. After converting to XML, they send to foreign airlines company, where they foreign airline companies plug-in theses XML into their S1000d suits.
